Sooo Gary tell us what I have missed :D

...had a fly at Tinto, no carry ups, no 4x4 jobs, 45min drive, lotsa lift, no boonies downwind - done a little over-the-back thing after soaring for more than an hour

Been there, flown a borrowed Klassic - brilliant!

Wind was a lil too much for beginner/intermediate PGs for a good part of the day, but we hangies ate as much airtime as we could!

We need a hang gliding contingent for this trip I think. I'm definitely interested in going but unfortunately I don't think Sleazyjet take hang gliders anymore. I'll work on getting a couple of others to share a car for the drive down..... Cheers Dave Dave, I might come along if we find another one...

SHPF weekend at Ratho (Edinburgh) 24-25 or January

Hi guys, would anyone like to come along to SHPF gathering at Ratho climbing centre on 24-25 of January? Saturday - reserve chuck (zip wire) and repack (do it yourself with coaches available, or possibly Aerofix are coming to do it for money) - SHPF AGM (short) - John Sylvester talk about flying in ...

Hi Ron, I'd like to fly there too - done it once and absolutely loved it! Let me know when you're going there ;o) Suppose Iain Miskin can tell more more about this site, which was also known as Innerleithen Road. Basically, it's a long NNW facing ridge, good for the days when it's blown out elsewher...

You'll have to upload it somewhere first (Colin might be able to help) and then post the link here.

Or, you could convert PDF pages to large images (PNG is better than JPG for this) and post them as a series of pictures.

Another vote for Annecy as this is also good for hang gliders. Good take off at Col de Forclaz (concrete ramp) and large landing field. that's assuming these are still the same as when I was there a few years ago. Can anyone confirm this? Gary, take the RS as well as the paraglider...... Dave Been ...

Will be thinking on Sat night, chances are Sunday will be quite windless so may opt for aerotow in that case! Look at the chart - there's not much pressure gradient to cause wind on Sunday, and if forecasts get it off by only a few hours - we'll have virtually no wind at all!

All the forecast I've seen (except BBC) suggest NW - NNW wind, quite fresh in the morning and easing off later from the West (i.e. eastern parts of the area will have some wind for longer). I think of going to Fastheugh Hill , but I haven't spoken to Tommy yet - it's his site. Fastheugh Hill is a ma...

Damn! Damn! Damn! Been there, and didn't fly! Thermals in Tokyo have been so strong that a 747 was kicked about over the runway, and 6-inch thick bamboos were shaking, Hotel balcony - 16th floor - updrafts felt like 20-30 hfpm up! Would have been scared "adrenaline"less if I was flying the...

My Compeo's track memory got currupted once, when it ran out of battery in-flight. After that, the device was switching itself off after a minute or two of flying, with a warning sound. Next XC I flew by feeling the Force! Compeo was cured by erasing tracklog memory, as Brauninger engineer recommend...

My Compeo never broke a flight - is that because it's a bigger device with a pitot tube sticking out, or because a HG doesn't really stay at the same coordinates for ages

Hi Gary,

gpsdump does FAI triangles for you - menues vary between the versions but you should be able to find it. Select all the track points, then press "Flight data" button or, from top menu, "Misc" -> "OLC statistics"

Compeo will display Lat/Long after you press "Enter".

Format is DD:MM.MMM

Set up in-car GPS to default to this format, get your retrieve driver to do it once, and then it just works every time.
