May be worth the club having a review of the frequency we use; there was loads of traffic on it the other day from neighboring clubs.

Hi Phil and welcome aboard.

One word of advise.......you listening?....... follow the forum and pester everyone for info. Generally we're a good bunch and we all love talking about paragliding but few will phone you up to tell you it's flyable; you need to pester everyone, me included.

Ummm....interesting, can't say that I haven't been in that situation before. Remember the rate of development is probably more important than the size of the cloud.

Good to see an open and honest attitude from you Colin.

Winter Objectives

Hi All With the long winter nights and limited thermal activity approaching it may be an opportunity to get some things done. I've got three Pilot papers waiting for people to do and two Advance Pilot papers. Can we agree to complete these in November maybe on a night separate from the club night? A...

Hi Kyle welcome to the club mate. A quick word of advice; your progress through this sport will better served in the company of other, more experienced, pilots. In short, don't be shy and get busy chatting to the other club members. Keep your eye on the 'flying today' part of the website and introdu...

Deciding a paragliding task at anytime other than the day itself is arbitrary as the actual weather conditions can't be determined with enough accuracy. GPS usage, if managed properly, can take the stress out a comp task. In days gone by three dimensional landmarks and features were used as turnpoin...

I agree John. Not saying that it has no chance but it's looking slim. Don't really see the point in dragging every to a hill unless it's flyable.

I'll also check weather this evening...in the meantime suggest we put the comp on 'Amber alert'.

I don't want to step on any toes, but, would be a great opportunity to run a coaching session for the newer pilots and knock off tasks for those wanting to attain their pilot rating.

Just a thought....any takers?

It takes a special skill set to get away from small sites let alone utilise the sea breeze convergence and all this in the Cheviots.....excellent!

Superb photo's Ron.... though they made me feel a little envious.

Personally I think we are squeezing too much into one meeting.... could we split Ron's and Ed's talks into two separate meeting so that we can give each of them enough time to cover their subjects?

Anyone else agree....thoughts?

It's good to see, in the above posts, a frank and well balanced response to the issue of coaching. From my perspective the whole issue centers round communication and responsibility. Here's my take on it. 1. take the initiative ... I get lots of people asking me to drop them a line when I'm going fl...

I flew in Millau during the Bleriot cup in the 90's. I really enjoyed it, the take off is a little committing but the flying is generally really easy and stress free. The gorge du tarn is worth a look on none flyable days. I pretty sure Bill and Andrew B went there a couple yers back and may have in...

I was a bit of a junior kickstart fan as a kid.... I had use of a Montesa 250 and used to rag it round my old man's field. I had to sell the bike though after the next door neighbour got really pissed when I rode over her VW Beetle..... oh happy days.
