Does anyone have an Arran airchart handy?

Post by dave-mclaughlin »

Anyone got a Scottish airchart handy? I'm off to Arran for a bit of walking/flying/drinking etc. in June, and was wandering if the airspace for Glagow & especially Prestwick, was going to get in the way of a bit of paragliding? Don't fancy getting wrapped around the nose-cone of a transatlantic 777! :o

I know there is a paragliding school on Arran, so I'm assuming that there won't be too much in the way of restrictions, but you never know.

If you just want to know where the airspace is this will help

If Acro was easy they'd call it Cross Country

Part of the island has airspace above it starting at FL045
If Acro was easy they'd call it Cross Country

Thanks Colin, that link is one for the boomarks folder.

Looks like I can plan for a sled ride from Goat Fell to a pub in Brodick - helipad permitting!

Have a chat with Zabdi Keen at Flying fever. Very helpful regarding sites and landings.
Handle every stressful situation like a dog.
If you can't eat it or play with it,
Just pee on it and walk away.

Dave, it is not the airspace you have to worry about!! It’s the “Haggis” For on Arron I am sorry to tell you, they all walk ante clock-wise!! So you all ways find you’re self fling down wind? To miss them. And I am definitely not going too talked about the Peppercorns!!!

PS. Remember to take your rabbits lucky foot with you??????

Thanks Bob. Just seen Flying Fever sites guide - looks like there's a really good choice of sites for all wind directions, and a quite a few low level sites for the stronger days.

I'll give zabdi a call....
