The link below is mainly a story about well-known plans to outsource Newcastle's larger parks to a charity or social enterprise. But it adds, "Newcastle City Council has even considered a special parks tax for people living closest to the city’s green spaces, on the grounds that they get the most benefit from them."
Of course, Greens want everyone to live close to green space, for health and wellbeing reasons - and not all bigger parks are in our leafier suburbs. But has anyone else heard of proposals for a 'park tax'?
