Pilot and Advance Pilot exam

Post by Sad Northerner »

Hi All

firstly thanks for the kind words with regards to recent flights.....it's appreciated.

It has come to my attention some club members are eager to sit their Pilot exam and some the Advance Pilot exam.

Can I ask those who are interested firstly to look at their BHPA logbooks and assess whether they feel they are near to completing all the practical aspects that are outlined as necessary to move on to the next level.

Then can you either respond to this thread stating Pilot or Advance Pilot so that I can start ordering exam papers.

My plan would be to highjack one of the club meetings for an 'exam night' after completing a few lectures in the Autumn. Anyone in a hurry to get either P or AP should contact me by phone.

Observation of flying ability and consultation with other club coaches will be necessary to determine pilot attitude and ability. IGC info on the NHPC XC league would be good also.

Regards

Ali

Hi Ali
would like to have a go at the AP exam but looking at some of the tasks does it not mean you will have had to do a SIV course

10) * Demonstrate safe and effective recovery from a flat spin.
11) * Demonstrate safe and effective recovery from an amplitude max spin.
12) Pass the AP(PG) written examination paper.
* Note: Tasks 10 and 11 must be carried out over water with a recovery boat in
attendance and with the pilot wearing a bouyancy aid and reserve parachute.
Note: The tasks are the same for both Hill and Tow disciplines.

Bill

yes I'm quite sure that you need to have completed an 'official' SIV course.

Bryan

forgot to ask if you could help out with the pilot lectures?

If you haven't done your siv course go to tittlington when the winds off to the south and you will cover most of the siv course content in about 20 mins

Hi Ali

After a paragliding career measured in millenia I really should get round to doing the pilot exam - that way they'll let me play with the big boys at next year's LCC.

My original log-book was carved onto a cave wall, which was filled in when they extended the Powburn Cafe - but I'm sure I must have done all the necessary flying tasks by now as well as having survived most "incidents de vol" both in controlled and out-of control situations!

Could you add me to the "P" list?

Hi All

sorry but i forgot to mention that I need your BHPA number in order to book your paper. Can you PM me it along with along with the initials 'P' or 'AP' depending on which test you want to sit.
