Why, ya bugger....
Just seeing that picture again brought memory's back of better times.......of times when riff-raff like yourselves could sleep safely and soundly in your beds knowing that the shores of this country were in sound hands ......and East hill was to remain safe from the ravages of the invading Hun hordes....
Getting above the top then would have made you liable to instant execution.....even death.....even now, the reluctance to get above the top take off comes subconsciously from that well known fact.....so there you go.....and the next time you see me struggling with that big heavy bag.....remember that thin red line, held at great personal cost by Ron Don, and myself.....so many years ago....Dunkirk, Salerno, Arnham.....don't be afraid to come across..... wonder for a moment at the ravages that time has made on this once handsome face....slip a tenner in me pocket.... take that heavy load off me back, and with a willing heart remember that you are doing it for England....as that shell of a man in front of you once done it himself....you may have to join the queue, but ....what the hell?
And incidentally, I originally put that picture on, in, and for an article that I wrote in the Cumbrian Connection, some years ago, which I believe that JW somehow created.....perhaps I'm wrong.....still.....good to see it again....and to read the comments of you ungrateful bastards!
