Remember to take your BHPA pilot task book. Jocky will be able to sign off the relevant Pilot/Advanced Pilot tasks that come up in the SIV course.
Have fun....

That looks like the 1700m take off - where we saw some russian chap hit the trees on take off a couple of years ago. That was on an NHPC SIV jamboree too - so take care!! Wendy was giving SW at around 11:30 this morning so tootled off to Captain Cooks. Spot on the hill, peaking at around 14 - 16 mph but very, very gusty. Only Pete Bennett (ex-fireman) from NYSC was there, and he'd landed due to the conditions. Waited for about 30 mins for some dark, dodgy looking clo...

Stinking sweaty helmet
I accept no responsibility for any smutty double entendre's you may spot in the following  A spot of groundhandling on Monday afternoon left me sweating bullets (whew) and my helmet stinking and dripping. Has anyone tried using a helmet liner e.g. http://www.thermalshop.co.uk/helmet-liner-all-...

Never heard of this before, but it seems to be relatively 'famous' as it's the only named wind in Britain. See http://www.freewebs.com/mallerstang/visit2.html for a picture of the effect at Mallerstang. Some more info in Wikipedia, with more links to the phenomenon:- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hel...

USB to Serial adapters are renowned in tech-support land for being a right pain in the (mooning) I use them all the time at work for fiddling with microcode and firmware updates etc. Best one I've come across by far is one from keyspan. Re: could the weather be the curse of me not flying
HYou must ask yourself did I have powers to change the weather or was it the van? There may be a way out buy the van and get a scaled model of me in the front of the van. Alternative to this is to dye your hair ginger, as this is where the real powers are. Nah.... It's probably my fault for working...

The other thing was the lack of a portable enough transponder for some applications and that until such a thing exists there will be no mandate to use it (or be grounded). My worry is how much is it going to cost when it finally gets developed? Companies will only go to the trouble of developing a ...

After an 18 hour work day yesterday I decided to bunk off work and take full advantage of todays north easterlies, after a very long lie in this morning :dealer: A very pleasant 1.5hrs gentle soaring in the sunshine - nice!! Warcop access
There's been some mention of Warcop recently, so just a follow up question to anyone who may know the answer. The Warcop range is open to the general public over 12 weekends a year, and occasionally other days too, for walking. Dates can be checked by calling the range office (see http://www.nuttall...

Forecasts are changing by the hour, if not minute, I was getting quite hopeful for this week and even thought about throwing a sicky for Thursday morning to make a day of it, but now I think I'll concentrate on work and play each day as it comes. :( Sorry about the lousy weather. As usual, it's all...

Re: xfell
It's an Nissan X-trail, which did reasonably well last time I took it on the muddy stuff. More importantly, it's a company car, so it doesn't matter if bits fall off!!John Wallis wrote:Don't think it's changed much from the site guide. If you've got a 1/2 decent 4x4 you should get right to the top.
