Don't say you where not warned!!!

Post by milleboy »

Hi Guys

Just letting you guys know that all our suppliers are warning of drastic price raises in the new year due to the cronic weakness of the pound. :( :(

It looks like it will effect all brands and all dealers, some are talking as much as 20% increases.

So if you are thinking of buying something in the spring, either through us or anywhere else, it may pay to buy early or leave it later in the year if the situation stabilises.

Anyway just thought I'd point it out!

Happy New Year 'eh :???:

I suggest buying early as I can not see the £ strengthening any time shortly and people in the UK are going to have to learn to accept higher pricing.

The £ has fallen by 20% against the Euro in the last 4-6 months and by about 25% against the dollar and is showing no sign of bouncing back.

As someone who runs an import/distribution company I can say that all of our prices must go up by this amount just to stand still.

Next year will be interesting and anyone who is looking to buy anything large should be doing so now as most companies will probably go up in Jan as Steve forcasts.

I may very well be wrong (it happen quiet often..) but joining the euro when the pound is so weak would be a very bad idea.

If we joined today, some one earning £12K PA would start earning 12k euro PA. (exchange rate being one to one)

If we'd joined at the onset, the same person would get 20400 euro. (1.7 initail rate)

So unless I'm missing something..............we'd all be worse off at the moment?

Plus, over the last 30 years our economy has been driven by the City, yes they are having a difficult patch right now, but the City relies on us being outside the Euro.

Anyway, enough economics for one year.....

Wow, might this be the most intelligent thread we have had on here?

I would concur with the honourable gent on the pound needing to be strong before any change. Other wise we would end up with a load of frogs coming across and buying up all the houses, business and anything else they fancy. The very thought!

price hike

Post by Kitt Rudd »

I concur with Steve, I recieved news today of Gradien't impending price increases.
If you are looking for a new wing this year, better start putting a bit more away as these increases are going to be substantial..

These price increases are coming from the point of manufacture with significant increase in the cost of materials as well as transportation costs.

The ability to edit was removed as some people would post a message then someone would reply and then the original message is edited leaving the person who replied looking a bit of a tit... Sorry.
