Just Rambling..

Post by MadDog »

Another weekend over, and all present and accounted for, everyone answering to the last roll call…..
Two back from France and returned to the ration list
Ring the bell, Close the book, Quench the candle….
You can’t blame me for worrying about when the next accident/incident is going to raise its ugly head after the Easter weekend toll is taken into account…..Alli Guthries ride in the big yellow taxi, Ron-Dons little hiccup….The Scottish lads tragedy down in the South….
The way I see it, we are all family….we are all someone’s bairn….What happens to one of us, happens to all of us….and you have to remember, as you reach down to clip in that last leg strap….Its only paragliding /hangliding, its not real Life…..
Big distances mean nothing to anyone else in this human race…and it will mean even less to the loved ones who you might leave behind….
You won’t be the first person, or the last, to shuffle off this mortal coil…just as you thought your Coming around was Coming around…
If you see where I’m coming from.
So….there you go then…..Fly safely…..Fly sweetly…..make sure you return in one piece at the end of this, another sunny day, to your lovely wife of a thousand years….especially you Mr Donaldson….That beautiful wife of yours, who you met so many years ago, under a harvest moon, wouldn’t take kindly to life without you…..so….think on’t lad!
Put yourself in our good chairman’s position….he doesn’t want any more hassle on his Watch than is strictly necessary…..he has his own problems….the price of gold ingots are tumbling on the world markets…the marzipan is crumbling on the roof at home….dissention among the troops on the front line are mounting, resignation letters flood the front passage…..I would think that court martials, for some, could become the order of the day….
But…..He’ll manage, He’s made of sterner stuff than most….I have every faith in you, Brian….Keep doing what you have been doing so professionally, so far, as Chairman….I personally stand squarely right behind you….Tin hat and all….
So, why do we have so many trophies named after people who are….How can I say this, without sounding disrespectful?......Gone ahead?....
Why not a trophy with a living persons name on it…(that should automatically mean JW gets excluded)
What’s wrong with The Brian Nellist trophy?....Or the Jim Bittlestone trophy?....they’re both canny lads…..and much better flyers than me…..
My reason for airing this subject is mostly because Gary Sten has told me that he is quite prepared to top himself….providing we have a trophy with his name on it…
As if having a Gully named after him wasn’t enough…….There is just no pleasing some people, Is there?
And just before I go…..Didn’t Blease Fell come up with the goods yesterday? Was that good flying…or was that good flying?….The hill itself is a bit of a Widow-maker….but when its good, It’s good….and many thanks to the Cumbria Club for allowing us to fly there….If I ever invent a cure for baldness, I will give it to you for free…..
Have you noticed how many Cumbrian club pilots are bald?....and that’s only the women!
Must be all that fresh air!
Safe flying and most of all don't let your name be on another club memorial trophy.

Make that 2! Where would we get another chairman that puts so much into the club, especially with the new pilots and his pre meeting coaching talks. He's always so professional when dealing with problems that the club seem to keep throwing at him.

And not to forget it's all voluntary as well!

It's looking like Gary is offering only a leg now and below the knee at that!
Any advance on a leg?

How about the John Miller Medal? For tales told of flights gone by, it would sit nicely alongside the pilot of the month- best write up?
Better pilots? I'm sure that I also speak for Brian, when I say that we are not fit to tie your laces. We merely hang about hoping to catch words of wisdom from the master that just might keep us up there a moment longer. And you thought we were helping untangle your lines,
no, just tangling!
