What do you think

Post by RonDon »

Hi All

Can any one tell me what they think about Ozones BBHPP. A quantum leap in Paragliding? If you would like to know more about it go to paragliding forum "Hot topics/post"Killing the Carbon page 6, Team Ozone
Mike Cavanagh. http://www.flyozone.com/paragliders/en/ ... ines/13904

yep it looks like it wont be long untill the future is here, i think we will be seeing eal 12-1 gliders with speed though with so few lines it must feel a little scarry. better leave some room in my closit for when they manage to get 2-3 certification.

shame they have banned it by the looks of things which seem daft.

cheers gary

It is pretty amazing.

A two line glider, which relies on carbon stiffeners to give rigidity.

Which is where the dispute arises, as the technical definition of a paraglider is a wing with no solid structure.

Seems to me like other manufacturers are spitting the dummy over its success in the PWC.

I am sure it will be the future.

More so Alastair, when other flyers have to have some one to help them carry there wing on to T/O, Because they could not get it into a bag for stiffeners? The good news is some “manufactures” will not be able to stop the tide coming in. And I am looking forward to when Gary gets his, An he lets us know what he thinks of it!!

The carbon stiffeners are not solid though - they can apparently be wrapped around a finger. Hence the argument over what amounts to "rigid".

I look forward to having a go on Garys demo...... :D :D

me too but i think it will be a while before they make one for general production for the likes of me. though if this is as good as they say it is and flies better than anything out there then it may not be so long. the thing is there might be a day where they dont need to test for collapses as they no longer collapse. how good will that be 15-1 glide .8 ms sink and top speeds of 70kmh. now i am dreaming but by god it would be good especialy the way the glider folded easier than any i have cheers gary

No Gary, your paraglider is always going to collapse. The wing is designed to collapse in a uniform way. It is a safety valve.

We had a few discussions whilst out in SA about the BBHPP, and development wings in general, including some horror stories about wings which had been designed not to collapse, but when they did, ended ripping half of the lines out of the wing.

Which then made it a little difficult to fly.

:D :D

Having looked at the video, the technology itself seems to be fairly simple, so it may not be so long before it filters down to mere mortals like us.

My money is on the comp wing being re-instated and first production models out at the end of the summer, which means we could all be flying Gary's demo for the last XCs of the season.
I suggest Gary gets one right at the top of the weight range, then I'll be able to fly it no bother! :)
See you out there!!!!!

Stick a couple of aluminium leading edges and a keel in and you might end up with a proper flying machine....

Can't beleive what I'm reading... the performance has been here for years its called a 'hangglider' come on you lot wake up and smell the roses it makes sense to do both

p.s also saves a lot of time (not waiting for the wind to drop ! ) and money (wasted journeys) 8)

But the fact is that it IS a paraglider, and this possibly represents one of those quantum leaps forward in performance that happen from time to time, and as such should be applauded.

You can still stuff it in a rucksack and carry it on your back to the top of the hill, or even take it on holiday with you, without any hassle.

And bearing in mind it only has two lines, it halves your daily inspection! :D :D

Pivotal moments in history are just not your bag Ron, are they? I guess for you the Berlin wall coming down was just mindless vandalism.
