OK so the sun is nearly at the yard arm and the weather gods continue to give us heaven day after day. The place to be on next Sunday night (20th June) is the top of Skiddaw were will spend a night of merryment and get in touch with our hippie sides at sunrise @ 4.30a.m. I will be leaving my house in Bassenthwaite around 9 p.m. and I am sure there will be others going from the Keswick side to meet up and kip on the summit. Here's Mondays chart looks canny http://www.ecmwf.int/products/forecasts ... 2010061612!!

mmm might have been a bit hasty going for Sunday night looking at the latest forecast and charts. Reccon it will be cloudy, windy and cold Sunday but Monday night looks perfect. So sorry to mess any of you around but we be leaving the Sun Inn Bassenthwaite at 9 p.m. Monday 21st. Still get to walk up and watch the solitice sunset and even better fly down at silly hour in the morning.

OK I AM A MUPPET . Should never turst them weather forecasts, as the LCC proved. It no looks O.K for the true solistice night Sunday 20th into Monday 21st , so were gona go for it when its supposed to happen. I'm leaving Bassenthwaite Sun Inn at 9 p.m. after a wee pint from around 8.30ish. And Stevie G is leaving same time from Latrigg carpark. Hopefully see some of you up there
So 9 brave aviators took up the challenge and reached skywards in search of solstice treats. Attacking Skiddaw from all sides the lucky souls were treated to a breath taking solar show of sunset and sunrise. As dawn grew over the landscape below, unfortunately as did the fell fogs over our lofty take off location. With heavy packs but not heavy hearts we all retraced our steps from the night before and returned to the real world below.
