No, it was nothing to do with SIV and Turkey! I can't make my mind up if the 2 minutes at West Hill, or the drive up Hownam Law was the worst thing that happened? (I'm not to good in these tin boxes)
Either way, it doesn't matter, because we were rewarded with a great afternoons flying on the NNW and NW face of Hownam. (Can I claim first flight status for these two?) It's a shame there wasn't a little more sun around to give more thermal, but what there was, was smooth and fantastic, what a site!!!! Able to fly out over the Hill fort and the farm, followed one thermal to 1200ft ATO above the trig point, but the view out back looked like a LONG walk so I stayed put. John tried the jump to the ridge in front but was too low on his attempt, he was rewarded by an hour lying on his back in a field watching me fly. To top it all off we found some great apple trees on the way home!
Sorry to Lloyd and Chris for not getting back to you, I always switch my phone off when flying, it has the habit of switching my GPS off if it rings. It was 6.30 when I got your messages, hope you had a good day.
