well this is one place that brave pants is a must, with the air inverted and high pressure there was some of the roughest air i have experienced. however once you could get into your mind how to enjoy the flying and just fly out over the sea it became a different place. for me it was to scarry scratching and thermaling close to both sides of the hill after take off, expecialy when people are telling you how they dont like the golden to as he seen someone get killed not long after take off on a golden. haven said that the brave pance came back on once over the sea from spirals to assymetrics symetrics b-lines and even full stalls. haven anylised my full stall flight it took 32 seconds from start to finish due to the fact the first time it was coming out assymetricly and cravated and the max decent of just over 8ms so not that fast. this ha to be the most disturbing collapses to do due to the amount of thrashing you et from side to side and the forced on your arms. the place itself is awsome and as the week proggresed it jus grew and grew on me, and i will be sure to go back. the last day ws one of the best days with better thermals and good climbs up to 800m ato 2500asl so very nice. a great place to just chill although i did observe that those doing siv could not relax dur to the start times and stress, even neil was quiet and going to bed early. i am sure that the star man aka mad dog can go much further with this post as john just loved the takee offs.

32 seconds to stall and recover? at 8m/s you would have dropped 250m, or 800ft in old money.

The whole point of a stall is as a recovery technique. And at 32 secs you are going to have to have a lot of height....

AND there are different ways of recovering..... the way Jocky teaches on the SIV is not the most efficient way, but is the most reliable way if you dont have the necessary feel.

Go and do an SIV properly Gary.... the maneuvers are only a part of the actual course. The briefings, debriefings and group feedback are of as much importance..... ask John, Jill, Pete, Pete, Neil and the rest......

However, the terrible news on the website about Gary Porter puts everything else into perspective. My thoughts go out to his wife and children, as i am sure do everyone else's in the club.....
It is sad to measure your life in terms of hours flown...... but even sadder not to.........
