.............That Gary Stenhouse starts his hang gliding training tomorrow. Watch out if he get's a taste of a wing faster than a slug creeping along the ridge....All you paraplonkers will want one
Personally I don't think he's got what it takes to make a semi ridged wing pilot. The training is much harder, it takes longer, and if you are Ginger ...well what chance have you got?
What do his close mates think? Has he got it in him?
ronny was thinking of training me on the phanton to save all the training inbetween. but apparently the firstnthing i need to to is grow a tash if i have any chance of been a hanglider pilot. have i still got it yes, in the mind but unfortunately recent events our starting to haunt, so this will be me problems not the determination thing.if i have trouble running back up the hill with a hangider steve fingers said he could do with the extra exercise so no probs there
You're just trying to put him off!
I thought you would have realised by now, Garry will do anything to get his hands on a trophy and he has sussed the easiest way to do it!
I knew he couldn't resist it when he was telling me about the 23kg wing last weekend.
The only thing up for debate is,,,,
Will he have a Phantom before Christmas?
My guess is ........
well john after seeing the master in the air you must be getting worried.
well i must say had a fantastic day, with a lot more flying than i thought for fist day. i am pretty sure it will not be long before you see the young apprentices in the air, that is fingers aswell. as he might of started with a free day taster but as he new once you've had a go you want to have another.
Watching Steve and Gary training today was just the best fun. The smiles on the faces said it all even if the wind did get up and make it a bit bumpy for them they were loving it.
But more enjoyable than that was watching Ron Freeman's face and the very obvious pleasure it gave him when he was training the guys. Good on yer Ron.
Well done lads, looks like you had a really good day, it will be good for you to be able to fly both. The hangliding will also make you better paraglider pilots, as most hangies make good paraglider pilots.
It makes me feel like hang gliding again
Ronnie is a good safe instructor, stick with him and you'll be fine, dont be tempted to go to the Miller school of fence hopping and tree landing
Pleased to hear you all had a good time, I get a real buzz when I see students having fun. The conditions turned out good then it became exciting.... good to watch & well done
Maximise your time & dosh do both Hanggliding & Paragliding
Fantastic photos John, the boys looked great soon we will have more sharks then jelly fish in the club, cant wait to hear Garry and Fingers shouting at the floppies to clear off from the launch area good luck guys.
i must say my ne avatar makes me look like a cool pilot, looking forward for my next outing, with any look it may be even today although it does look a little windy
Why do I suddenly feel like the Fugitive, running flat out with Bill Sykes’s rottweiler snapping at my heels…..?
Wallis took delivery of an almost brand new Laminar topless, yesterday, sneaking off to a pre-arranged meeting with Bob Sutherland in some hidden cave deep in the Ingram Valley….Counting over the filthy lucre with his fat, black, grubby hands….
How slimy is that?
And all because for once in his life I’m ahead of him in mileage in the hang-gliding cross country league, and its choking him….
The Gauntlet is thrown down now bonny lad….Soon to be followed by the size nine….
Any chance of a lift up Cross Fell next weekend?...
It’s time you shed your current inamorato, Rutherford the Mediocre, and travelled with a proper pilot anyway…..
We could go topless together!
And if this wasn’t enough, you only need to look once at the pictures of Stevie and Gary on their first day of hang-gliding yesterday, cool hand luking it, in their first top to bottoms, to see two aces in the making…..I can certainly feel the walls closing in on me fast…..
So Ronnie, If I were to cross your sweaty palm with the usual, could you perhaps teach them how NOT to fly properly….
They do know of course that if they want to turn right, they must weight shift to the left?!
That’s the ticket!
