Post by Mike Brown »

This coming weekend see's yet another Large Paramotor gathering up at Model Ridge. Friday to Monday with a number of dealers and schools being present so if you are curious to learn about the dark side and want to get a lot more flying in then all are welcome to come along and see what it's all about. Round about 60 pilots registered so far. Pie n Pea supper saturday night.
Give me a shout if you want any further details

Could get interesting if it's a northerly. As well as every local pilot out on a Bank Holiday the British Hang Gliding Nationals, based in the Dales this weekend tend to use Model Ridge in a northerly.

So with 60+ hangliders, 60+ Paramotors and umpteen free flying paragliders don't forget to pack your machine gun.

No problems would have occured as this, and others to come this year, are very long standing bookings made by organisers with the landowner who welcomes us with open arms every time. If it was windy enough for stiffies then we wouldn't be flying. If you want to hold a large event at Model then you need to book it these days rather than the old days of just turn up " it'll be OK!" It is no longer the exclusive use of free flyers im afraid.
Anyway looks like you guy's will be bimbling up and down East Hill or Stags all weekend so should be no conflict but I would encourage anyone interested to come along and see how the machines and wings in particular are developing with more and more of the leading manufacturers getting involved. Also some of the top competitors are going to be there with one or two actually flying in from as far away as Ipswich and Cambridge!! Now thats an XC!!
Hope you all get some flying in wherever you are this weekend
Cheers

I can vouch that last year was a smashin doo, due to a gammy arm I will decline for fear of forgetting I have a gammy arm.

In a league comp with light winds they'd still be jumping off in any chance of a thermal and doing a fly on the wall if they didn't get up. Great fun to watch.
