Moneylaws - good soaring two days in a row

Post by ron freeman »

Friday was good solid soaring with light thermals later in the day. The wind picked up to a healthy 15-20mph (4.30pm) good for the hanggliders not so good for the paragliders ask Chris foster what happened...

Saturday off and on all day...then suddenly the wind got fresh at 6.30pm all the low airtimers (HG) got the rewards for waiting ! well done you lot. Sometimes you have to put yourselves out a bit to get some decent flying in.

Cheviot hills for thrills.
Maximise your time & dosh do both Hanggliding & Paragliding :)

Moneylaws Good Soaring for two days in a row

Post by John Wallis »

Should have known better in fact I do know better but the forecast said go north and we did. We thought we made the right decision when we arrived as Gary was flying all over the sky on his new wing .....He was the only one that did. We sat in lovely weather with little or no wind all day. With Neil and Ali arriving from the Model ridge (Some drive) backed up our decision or so we thought. I heard from Colin and Wendy later on that the bad weather at model had gone though and not only did they fly they got away XC. All the guys on Moneylaws had many hops trying to connect with the thermals with no luck apart from Gary that made it look easy on his new wing. I believe Andrew Billington also got away which is excellent so that's 2 of the Guys and Doll team on the score sheet today

yep i must say for most it was not that good, for me it was some of the most callenging conditions to stay up untill i got that first 100m agl. then it was just light lift and thermals about so it was good. i must say though the wing did make a fifferance due to the sink and glide.

as for neil and ali dont read the board as i would be looking for a rope after reading what happend at model after they left. something i was told early on when its light and variable never leave the site your on

cheers gary
