well interesting stats for flying
from jan to june in 2006 i flew 56.6 hours
jan to april 2007 45.5 hours
jan to june 2008 35.6 hours
so if you look at 2007 i had my accident so it took 2 months off yet allready had 45 hours also this year and last i had more freedom to fly you can see how bad this years flying is.

Funny..
Funny.. I've had the best year ever teaching hanggliding & paragliding ? also I've had some very nice HG flights for myself.
Site selection and timing is crucial if you are going to maximise your free time...Iv'e also noticed lots of members go home when its time for tea (5.00pm) there has been many times this year when this was the best time to turn up and fly till dark...

Don't think...
Garys big mistake was moving onto an Aeros Discus far too early...Gary Wirdman seems to have sorted him out !
Gary.. fixing a bust glider affects your airtime...
Interesting times ahead...

well i may of not been off to the best start but with almost 4 hors flying on friday at the long mynd proves i sometimes get it right, flying both hg and pg. with all my flights logged and backed p by real time flying and no exagerating on how much you fly. as my gps only starts logging once flying and switches off once stationary on landing.
i did not manage to go xc but i did make the most of the day and was the only person and four sailplanes, even outclimbing the sailplanes at times. even getting climbs to 300mato at 8 oclock certainly one fantastic site with safe forward landings and out landings if blown out.
all that was missing was a propper xc but there is plenty of time and it will happen when things or right and i am prepared. haven said that still top of the hg league, so come on boys lets get some flights in
cheers gary

looks like you had a cracking day yesterday well worth the drive down my ageing body would never cope with that amount of airtime in one day
dont worry john my body does not feel so good today with over 500 miles driving on top the red bul was needed on the way home.
did you notice the thermal that was the one i should of left in? nothing but a big puff lacking in mas gahones. the time is near.
mind the weather is looking good for the mynd on monday i might have to drive back down monday morning again,
might go into work tommorow and head back down as i dont want to make things to easy for the boys ha ha.
i must say though i am tempted as if it is right west nw for the mynd then it will be one hell of a day again
just a shame it is so far away
cheeers gary

i know its open distance so just trying to get others out and wind them up, mind open distance is the only on altitude gain olc duration 3 turn.
as for driving hours i would say i will be doing an average of 6 to 1. so now i have flown 40 hours this year that means approx 240 hours driving which is 10 days solid driving.

If your flying hours are down this year Gary it must be the weekdays that have been poorer. Unlike you I can't get out at the drop of a hat on any day that looks half decent and fly generally only on weekends, but have managed better than average this year so far. Counting hang gliding and microlighting together this weekend is the first one I haven't got flying in about three months, and even then could have flown Saturday morning as the rain didn't start till lunchtime.
