What a beautiful day!

Post by AlastairW »

Absolutely fabulous day, with crystal clear skies, and the sort of views that take your breath away......

I headed West, in the tyreprints of Ali and Neil, but only got as far as Hadrians Wall, to a little place somewhat reminiscent of East Hill, and had an hour and a halfs boat about the skies, alternating between a couple of hundred feet ato to scratching through the bracken, with a very appreciative audience of (initially) sheep, followed by a dozen walkers.

The views down onto Vindolanda were fantastic, the whole of the fort laid out below my feet. It was hard not to think what the Romans would have thought seeing a person flying through the air above their heads.....

My first time of the ground for 6 weeks. Probably the longest break I have ever had in my flying. The first 20 minutes were a bit twitchy, until I relaxed into my flying, and ultimately finished of whooping with joy at the shear intoxication of the pleasure of the flight.

How did everyone else do? Model looked like it probably came good? ChrisFozz was flying at Moneylaws.... I guess the lakes was good as well?
It is sad to measure your life in terms of hours flown...... but even sadder not to.........

Latrigg was epic..............

Post by gordie »

Latrigg today was amazing, with out doubt the best days thermic flying I have ever seen in the Lakes and one of the best ever on Latrigg (at any time).

Thermals and convergance came through to send Birkitt, Andy Plim, Paul Gannon my students and me to cloud base and beyond. Birkitt eventually landing at Ambleside. Please enjoy the pics, some are a bit dodgy but tell a good story of the day. They all have gliders in including the ones of clouds, but you may have to look very closely

awsome can be the only wood to explain today
started with a 1.5 hour flight on the rs4 flying down the trees at carltong then all the way down to haastie then was doing some nice themaling all around the sky, totaly amazing gliderwith a landing to mach.

then it was land drink of water and off on the pg, the new factor very nace small and very agile wing, so different to the peak this time down to hastie a couple of times then p stop put the rs away then straight back up on the factor with more flights to hastie befor having to land for the light. doesn't get much better flying hg and pg is the best combination and when you come of the rs you tent to smiling for ear to ear.

i hear moneyays was working to though a bit light and the lakes i hear was good though light and scratchy at times.

even the dog landed with a big smile on his face.

cheers gary

  Twas Loverrrrrrrrley
In the Lakes too. Cold and Clear. having arrived at Clogh early we walked up in what appeared very little breeze, but by the time the idle chit chat had subdued, the wings were laid out multi layers of fleece were adourned..we pulled up and we were off...Straight over to the cliffs and once connected you were up... With a white cap on Skiddaw and Helvelyn the rest of the Lakes in lovely Autumnal heues.....Wings every where..near and far ...high and low...a lovely lovely day..some long flights some short flights...but all of them a pleasure...
