GOD SPEAKS TO MORTALS, Monday 6th April, DO NOT MISS!

Post by Sad Northerner »

Hi All

had news from UKairsports that 'God' will be doing a talk in Keswick on the 6th of April and all are welcome. Bruce Goldsmith AKA 'God' will be doing a talk about glider design and will open to general questions.

Bruce is known for being Airwaves chief designer and test pilot, a sometimes controversial XC mag columnist (Icaristics), for winning the World Paragliding Championship 2007 and the UK British Chapionship X3 and his SIV videos (Instability) etc...etc..

There are only a few in the world with his pedigree and I expect this lecture will be more of an education than the typical paragliding rant so try to attend if you can.

I will leaving from Haydon bridge area at 6.30pm and anyone wanting to jump in is welcome to.... give me a buzz on 07859935159 or reply to this post to reserve a place, otherwise see you at the Skiddaw Hotel, Keswick, MONDAY 6th April at 8pm.

Cheers

Maltby and I are also going shifts permitting. As you say Ali Bruce has done it all at the highest level (HG & PG) and one of the guys I would say is well worth listening to.

Why don't we (the club) organise some top pilot talks at a local event (near Newcastle)?

Gary said that it's because the club is too poor! Unlike the Cumbria boys.

Maybe its a little like this;

I quite like fishing and I sometimes like watching Robson Greens Extreme Fishing on TV. But I would not dream of paying to listen to him prattle on about fishing. No more than I would pay or could be arsed to sit and listen to Jensen Button or Lewis Hamilton waffle on for 3 hours.

I think you need to be a big fan to go and pay for such "entertainment"

I think you might find most people might be happy turning up for free, but I guess these guys dont do it for free.

Is anyone heading over from the Washington/ Sunderland / Newcastle areas? I don't mind taking my car or share a lift, whichever?
Cheers
