Just heard from Gordy that Souther fell in the Lakes is out (not flyeable) until further notice.

I'm hoping it's lambing and not irresponsible use that has caused the closure?

Just to confirm Souther is closed for Lambing at the farmers request, at least for April and maybe longer. There are a number of other sites effected by closures at this time of year please check the CSC Website for upto date info.

As for flying XC from there, Souther has many good XC's to its name, many ending at the coast but some disappering into the Scottish Borders. Admmitedly most of these flights were done many years ago by good pilots, I suspect you just need to keep practising Gary and you will get there one day :wink:

What's often overlooked is what a good site Souther is for hang gliders, especially if there's a decent blow on when you can launch from about 50ft above the cars. I've only flown it three times but gone XC every time, and I aint much of an XC pilot!!
