Stags to Doddington
I was derigging in a field near Hexham on Saturday when I was taking a call from Andrew Maltby and a performance glider was coming towards me still quite high I thought it might have been one of the Cumbrian guys I gave a shout on the radio but no reply. I watched him disappear and looked like he'd dropped into Hexham possibly to use the train link back to Cumbria. But as it turned out it was a Dales pilot called John Ellison on his way from Stags to north Nothumberland. What an incredible flight! Some of these guys are just brilliant with over 6 hours in the saddle
But the fact remains he couldn't penetrate the "Wooler Sink Hole" The Cheviots decked yet another XC
I've enclosed his IGC file if you post in into our XC league view it then delete it, it's well worth a look.
Well done that man.

Yes he pulled off a great triangle, returning to pick up his car, left from the night before at Stags. He missed the last train from Berwick, stayed B+B, then did the flight on Sunday. Monday he left Semmer Water at about 3.30, he's probably in Alaska now on a circumnavigation of the globe, hopefully the ice in his peak won't melt.
See you out there!!!!!
