Arrived at the Glen Coe Ski Station, meeting Chris and Jan Little who had arrived Friday night and a group of Flying Scots...Word of the weather had got around.
The early morning grey skies quickly cleared reveiling Blue sky and slowly developing Big Fluffy White Clouds...What a day was dawning
Taking the Glen Coe Chair and then a 30-40 minute walk to a South facing take off we prepared for what was one of the most beautiful flights I have had.
Take off was light and a bit tricky with the wind swinging with the thermals as they came through, and snaggy little rocks just ready to catch your lines as you launched. But once away WOW
The thermals were powerful and once conected powering you up above the most magnificant mountains..the names of which I can't pronounce and certainly cant spell !
Soaring above the last skiers and snowboarders of the season in T shirts and goggles enjoying the last weekend of the season.
Dave Thompson and some of the Scottish guys disappearing in search of a Triangle ..Paul disappearing to some distant coirre and Mountain (oh did I mention the Man Flu seemed to have abated once out of the duvet
So after getting comfy..er with the punchy conditions I decided to venture away and down into the Glen..Passing Glen Etive , Glen Coupall, passing the Devils Staircase...eventually landing in the soft warm Flatlands of the Glen. Fantastic..what an experience..Oh yes just in time to see my ''ill'' husband take a massive climb out from the Devils Staircase and fly down till decked by the sea breeze quite conveniently at the Clachaig Inn.
What next but too the Pub to meet up with others coming in from XC's in all directions..A pint then to the Camp Fire ..Wine .Women (well me and Jan were there) and song !!!..We all gave a toast to Gordon ..A fellow pilot and Close friend to the Scottish lads who had come to say their fairwells in their own way.
Sunday..more of the same , according to the Scottish lads its like that every weekend in the Highlands
This time we ventured South to Loch Tay..I'll not bore you with anymore ramblings but needless to say another Powerful Warm Blue Sky White Cloud Scottish Day....
