Moderating

Post by colin keightley »

As some of you may have noticed all the moderators have been removed and only 2 remain. Since we got rid of the incoming spam it is no longer necessary to have so many moderators.

Ok I done this without consulting the moderators as part of the site update

partly because im sick and tired of asking for user input waiting and getting nowt and im getting nowt done

any previous moderators who wish to be reinstated or are miffed they have been removed then PM me as I need 2 more and 2 will be selected next weekend from the requests

like i said we no longer need moderators to remove spam. Its more to deal with sensitive posts and the likes too many cooks and all that.

Colin it would be a good idea to leave the moderators as they are I certainly didn't ask to be singled out. The more keeping an eye on things the better?

Right I have had a couple of opinions from people so lets debate it here as i'll set it up however everyone wants it

So who would like the moderating to be as before and who would like a reduction.

Colin I do not wish to start yet another heated debate...BUT what happened to democracy ?

Certain actions I think should be debated by the club ?
Personally if I am required as a moderator I am more than happy to be so, but the principal of being removed on the whim of one member is a little worrying to me.
There seem to be alot of changes happening without any imput from fellow club members ! Let us not be too hasty.

I am not sure if this will even post as I do not seem able to log on...I do remember reading a post regarding login names.....Personally I like all the psudonims (spelling !!!!!) we are a small club we all know who we are

Kay your login name hasnt changed so I dont know why your having problems and the moderator thing wasnt just my idea and the username thing is optional. No i dont know who everyone is with there unusual usernames hence the problems i am having adding club members to the members area. I have spent 3 hours tonight trying to identify people by email addresses and such.

Just thought I'd give my 2 peneth...

If it ain't broke don't fix it.

The job done behind the scenes on the forum is much appreciated.

For me the ease of use and log on make it my first port of call for flying CRACK.

Ok sometimes things don't run as smooth as we'd like but just like in non cyber life we get round it.

It would be a pity to see it loose it's rightful place at number 1. 8)

The members only forum has been done before, and it did not work, because the policing of who is and who is not a member was impractical.

This is the easy bit, putting the current list of members together. Next year when subs are due is when the fun starts, at what point do you drop someone who has not paid the subs? Then there are the new members that need adding, its a bit of a hand full and there are posts re this very problem from back then. It caused more problems than it was worth, good luck with that.

The NHPC website is popular because its forum is open to the world. A private forum = a very boring forum = much less traffic to the site = less revenue from the google ads, just look at the CSC forum?

But this is all for the club to democratically decide.

Whats the point

Post by ron freeman »

Whats the point of having a 'CLUB WEB SITE' if we can't discuss important issues... one section for our club members is hardly going to rock the Google royalties.

I thought the idea of a club having a their own web site was to create better communications for its members... just who are we doing this web site for ?

The membership issue is a good one, pay up or be dropped.. this I beleive will sort out the slow payers so for me this is a positve move.

I am also sick to death of non members saying look at how other clubs do it CSC, DALES, N.YORKS, If they stick their head in the fireplace should we follow them...

Fact.. since we have put our sites guide online and anybody can join our web site with names like 'Desperate Dan from Desperate land' we have
had problems.

Rant over from a flying member who attends club meetings

I agree Ron we do need a section which is for our members only to discuss internal affairs without the whole world being able to see our business. I also understand that it will be hard for Colin to police the membership, but he's said he's prepared to do it so that should be the end of that. I don't think we need to go mad on the private bit just the one forum should do the trick for club business including the minutes being just a sticky at the top of the page and accident reporting, the rest in my opinion should stay the same.

That way the rest of the clubs who like to visit our site can do just that and join in as they feel fit.

And if that doesn't work scrap the whole thing and go back to John Miller running a monthly club magazine.
