I m looking for new wing in the 1-2 category have recently tried an infinity2 low end 1-2 and wil try an Epsilon5 aswell. Got options on a nova manboobs( mamboo ) but that might be too hot for me.
Anyone have any advice on mid range 1-2s I might try out?

The Golden 2 if the weight range is right is a good wing that tells you where the lift is and looks after you, although in strong winds, ground handling can be challenging.
I tried the hook also which is a great wing, but a bit full on for me, too much feedback and response coming from a dhv 1. I was offerred any amount of brand new hooks for only £1700 earlier this year by niviuk uk!
Epsilons are flown well by club members as are sport 2/3's, and Mentors never flown these tho'. Really depends on your weight and what you want from it? Ultimately you must have confidence in your wing I think, for what its worth and your weight and where you are in the range, i guess, plays a part in that.
Just the opinion of a beginner whos just changed wings.
Cheers

I know very little about the current wings but when you are talking about feedback from the wing and feel then don't forget to consider your harness. In my experience that makes more difference to the way your flying feels day-to-day than the actual wing. For the winter I'm now flying the Icaro energy lite harness rather than the Advance Impress - the difference in feel and feedback is huge and a little disconcerting.

Having only ever flown my evo xc harness I cannot comment on other harnesses, but so much is talked about harnesses that I am not looking forward to changing mine. It seems to me an minefield that I can't get my head around, for sure, when changing gear the rule seems to be one part at a time.
Occassionally I read back through the informative posts on this forum and it is all there to learn from, but harnesses I have yet to understand. I fell lucky with mine I think, but then again perhaps there are better harnesses out there and this one could be holding me back?
Either way, its a confidence game we play and to that extent its important for you to believe in the duvet you choose, cos when it gets bouncy you need to know that its your mate and not your enemy.
I heard some negative comments about the Golden spoken by folk who had either flown it with the wrong harness or flown in bad conditions (or heard from someone etc), that it almost made me discount it. Beware folk who are so pro one brand and dis other brands out of course. Third hand information is not worth having, the best information you can get is flying the thing with your own harness.
I recently met a Norweigan guy in Spain who had just bought a nova factor, he was so unhappy with it especially in big ears that it spoilt his holiday. He was a good pilot but it didnt suit him. The recent skywings article backs up his findings.
Anyway, low airtimers opinion etc
Cheers

Make sure when trying wings you go out with the right attitude of mind also, i love my setup and usually feel very comfortable but at the moment im not very well and dosed up to the eyeballs, when i was out at model last weekend even though conditions were good i hated the time i was up there and couldnt wait to get down as i wasnt comfortable with my wing to be honest it was scaring the sh*t out of me. Just goes to show the same setup can feel completely different depending on your mindset.
If Acro was easy they'd call it Cross Country

Good advice all round. I get very little feedback from the bolero as to what is going on until it's too late and I get a big collapse. I didn't want something with too much feedback though.
I ll keep hold of my harness. I fairly happy with it and wouldn't want to change harness and wing at same time. I could probably do with setting the harness up a bit better.
You re dead right colin about frame of mind. I visited a mate of mine in hospital a few weeks back who was a paraglider/ microlight pilot. Had a major accident after making a wrong descision on his bike and nearly killed himself. It preyed on my mind for couple of flights and I didn't enjoy what I was doing. Similarly flying tired wasn't fun.
I had a real laugh test flying a 1-2 recently though and the jump from an old dhv1 was huge. I was looking at the mamboo but the jump might be too big and I spend my time wishing to be on the ground.
Willing to spend a reasonable amount on a low hours second hand 1-2. Seen quite a few advertised but need the right size 80-105.
Cheers for all the advice.

Hi if you draw up a short list of 2 or 3 gliders to try on the same day using the same harness will give you a rough idea of the difernt feed back of each wing in roughly the same conditions. When i bought my "rush 1" i found the mamboo to lively hope this helps .
