I have been given this whole meeting thing some thought in the last weeks and its importance, though not as much I would have liked to due to work and trying to keep me and a lot more workers employed.
We have to be realistic about this and ask, what is it you want out of a club meeting?
For me I like to rattle through the trivialities and then get on to socialising and having a crack on about flying etc with others. As this is why we go isn’t it? Or do we go to bang on about bollocks and fight all night about anything that springs to mind? I am sure if I was a new pilot as well I would want to talk to other pilots and get known and see who’s who.
I don’t know if you have noticed but there is tough times now and tougher times ahead and these little meetings brings us together as one, as this is what we all should love if you paraglide or hanglide.
However if you do think the meetings should be more drawn out and that we should hire a court room to discuss are matters then i should do my very best to do so?
The final question is if we were to try and get a new venue where in the north east do you think we should have it?

The club meeting is primarily a social event where we as pilots get together and talk about flying and associated hobbies. The club business is almost secondary although it does have an important roll. The way our club runs meetings are different to say motor clubs when I was involved in motor sport. The elected committee would make the decisions on behalf of the club and there were no big discussions with all members taking part like we have. Personally I prefer it when we can all take part and have a right good go at each other when needed I think this is quite healthy and has done the NHPC no harm in the 31 years I've been a member. There are a lot of clubs that really struggle to get members to meetings so on that note I don't think we should be changing much......If it's not broken.................etc etc
