Plain juix today though not quite as good

Post by gary stenhouse »

Well too much strong north wind so no chamonix today we did fly in the lea as over 2500 behind. Very inverted and quite rough at times making things very interesting at times. 40minutes was enough for my first flight as you fly for enjoyment not to be fighting the air. Tomorrow looking much the same though more unstable so hope the inversion will break and kill the north wind a bit. Still beatifull place and nice pub by landing field so can not complain
cheers Gary

Aiguille du Midi
Well hopefully you can fly off..But if not it is still well worth a trip up..Through the Ice tunnel at the top & if you have some crampons maybe down the Arette...It may well still be skiable down the Valley Blanche

I have tried a few times to fly from the top, but with no luck. Have flown from the Mid Station which was Great..bit of a tricky take off in frisky conditions as there is quite a lot of Rocky Moraine

The top launch on the day ''apparently'' is quite easy (south TO) the North alot more dramatic. Straight off an ENOROMOUS drop straight out over the Chamonix valley..quite committed, and tricky in fresh snow.
Dad has done both..But the challenge is as he did a few years ago.
Fly the Valley Blanche then Ski it the next day..Oh yes then there was the day he VERY nearly spent the night up there, wrapped in his wing..But thats another story.
Have a trip up what ever the weather
Bon Nuit a toute alheure

I thought you d be out at model today Gary!

Sunny , blue skies and plenty of lift.

The Hangies were out flying over Castleton in the Peak District yesterday though it was a bit foggy this morning.

Spring is here at last.
You are only as good as your last flight........

well back home to the grind, some nice flights and even manging to get a short one in before we left. lift was everywhere and i am sure could of stopped up all day.

we stopped at flying lodge with dennis and gillian trott and must say it's a beautifull and relaxing place to stay. only 25 miles to do annecy 13 to chamonix an the brevant and 20 minutes to take off to a fantastic site localy. very freindly place to go so well worth a trip if you are looking to fly the alps with some freindly sites.

cheers gary
