well i was being a bit ambishes thinking the wind waslight enough to take a thermal back and still get forward. looking at my wind rose i was showing 16kmh so when i lost it at the top and turned into wind and founf the 12kmh was actualy back and not forward it was time for a nice drift back and a long walk out. what a windy place the top is compared to high cap.
however after coming back i had a great hour flying areas and getting back up on hills i had never been on, was using speed bar alott at height and can not beleive the speed from 9-10 into wind to 30kmh into wind 20k faster you just need strong leggs

yep it was a nice walk out but rewarded with a calypso at greggs hut, my first time i have been there what made it better was the sport roadshow was there in waiting for me. i mean i know my hair has become famouse but to have all them ladies waiting in greggs hut for me was a bit much after such a long walk. however been a part duracel they all went home with a smile on there faces, then i woke up.

Low airtimers.
Low airtimers when flying Crossfell...
Be very careful on this site when working thermals over the back from take off ! there is very high ground behind you (3,000asl) and the accelerated wind is big !!!
I've been up there on hanggliders with a hell of a lot more speed than paragliders and its not the place to be on either...
If there are wave clouds above or mixing with the tops of the cumulus the wind will always increase with height !
After a few 360's check your drift and check you can still penetrate into wind (very important before going any futher) if you find that your ground speed is now very slow !!! leave the thermal and fly out as far as possible and stay well out from the ridge.
