Flying Carlton What a Retrieve!

Post by Chris L »

Not a great flight, but a great retrieve with the biggest ice cream I've ever had at Helmsley courtesy of Jim
After landing and walking about a mile to a road the third car to pass and pull over had Jim in the back
It took us 3 hitches to get back to take off with deviations further South of my landing spot to Helmsley, then toward Sutton Bank where our 2nd hitch was going to take us until we realised the glider station she was talking about was not Carlton! Then finally a hitch from Alex Colbecks girlfriend with only enough space for one more person so Jim waited for me to come back to get him In the mean time he'd managed to hitch back.
All good fun and amazing ice cream

Excellent Chris....sometimes the hitch back is where the adventure really begins. I landed by a cross eyed bloke on Saturday who promptly showed me his rifle collection and exploding ammunition....no jokes!!

Got to within 8 miles of Scarborough, along the A170 Wonderful flight. Unfortunately I think fylingdale beckon shut all my instruments down, Weird.

And No ice-cream shops, Ho-Ho. Lovely Pic--Chris what camera!

Chris I think your ice cream is bigger than Jims? Nice to have friends.

Everyone who lives dies, yet not everyone who dies, has lived. We take these risks not to escape life, but to prevent life from escaping us ...

that sounded a lot of fun, luckily for me the dog was enroute and i just gave the young children and young lady of swinton a lecture on pg. i even got my glider out the bag to show the kids all the kit, and the one thing they all asked? whats that tube for, i mean you have all this kit and they want to know what the tube is, what do you say?

still a great day and a day of what could of beens

cheers gary
