A few pointers about flyng Alnmouth Dune - the Alnmouth village golf club are happy for us to fly there but have consideration for the golfers
we do take off & land on there course and beware of the 7th tee its on the top of the dune and they are firing balls down below at a aprox 100miles an hour ! after take off you can fly well out of there way.
The dune its self ! 100 ft top to bottom 1/2 mile long, the ridge lift is normally very smooth (wind off the sea) the site can take easterly round to the south be careful if flying in fresh winds Foxton golf course is behind you with some large trees around.
If you are flying the site in light winds be careful with the shrubs on the face of the ridge they can catch you out when scrapping the hill.
The light wind T/O is at the middle of the ridge high lighted with a blue ring in the picture
The fresh wind T/O is at the far end of the ridge near the caravans
You can land almost anywhere at the bottom (watch for golfers on the fairways) but be careful not to fly too far out at the bottom of the ridge because of the small dunes off the beach, the air gets a bit rough due to small rotor.
The site is open all year round ! but the quiet times with golfers are midweek and after 5.00pm at weekends
Pleae note ! Boulmer heli rescue is 2miles north of the site keep a look out
Happy flying
