A date for your diaries

Post by bill-scott »

The next meeting Wednesday 4t September should be a good un
After extensive negotiations with his agent :D :D and at great expense I can now confirm that we have managed to secure for the evening a booking with the premier dales and Cumbrian skygod and author of the bestselling book” Defined Flying Challenges” the one and only Ed Cleasby. (clap) (clap)
ED has over 30 years flying experience on both hang and paragliders and will be doing a presentation on his insight into flying the dales and Cumbria he has a lot of knowledge to pass on and the evening should be very educational and entertaining and should not be missed.

Also I'm hoping our very own superhero Ron birdman Freeman will be making an appearance to tell us about his record smashing flights at the Bognor and Worthing competitions I'm sure he'll be available to sigh autographs and may even let you stroke his lucky helmet :D :D
Its going to be a cracking night so get there early to make sure you get a seat

Hey Ron I would like to hear your talk and may come along for it. Make it long as you want, it will satisfy the folk interested. Keep up the good work.

As for Wallis reneging on your free dinner! Well its there for all to see. I recall some folk given great amounts of cash to talk.

What do we want?
Free dinner for Ron,
When do we want it?
Wednesday.

Ed cleasby very kindly gave me a reserve for the harness I was using he wouldn't take payment the very least I can do is buy the man a bite to eat and a drink every time I see him for some considerable time to come.

As for reneging on Rons dinner I don't recall offering but if he would like a bite to eat I'm sure I can stretch to that too.

I did accept the offer from Bill when he rang me and not my agent

I do feel the response has been poor and lets face it hang gliding is having hard time at the moment and I'm doing my best to keep it going. This is the first time the 100m has been broken from a 35ft platform and it took 16yrs to achieve and I am very proud to have done it plus its been fantastic
PR for the sport of hang gliding.

Ron to be fair the original message from bill didn't provoke a response it came across a more of an informative post. It certainly didn't confirm your attendance, although a bit of banter goes on about your little quirks I think you'll find you are a well respected member of the NHPC especially when it comes to you representing the north when lobbing yourself off piers. Look forward to what you have to say Ron. I'm more of a thrill seeker than XC'er so which do you think I'll enjoy most

Personally I think we are squeezing too much into one meeting.... could we split Ron's and Ed's talks into two separate meeting so that we can give each of them enough time to cover their subjects?

Anyone else agree....thoughts?

two meetings

Post by chrisfozz »

Sorry if I put your nose out Ronnie, I guess jumping of piers just doesn’t float my boat if you see what I mean, but hey that’s just my opinion.
I agrre with Ali – split the talks over two meetings.

Agree, I'd like to hear both, so do them on separate meetings so they don't have to be rushed
Feel the fear and do it anyway!

yes I agree it might have been to much to have two speakers on the same night but don't think Ronnie can make it tomorrow now anyway.
so the question of having to rush things is no longer an issue.I would love to hear Ronnie's account of the birdman comps and hope I can convince him to do it another time.
I have just spoken to Ed and its all systems go for tomorrow.

I would like to get the meeting started as early as possible so as soon as we have enough committee members present we'll get the club business taken care of and hand over to Ed  so please get there as early as you can especially if your planning on having a meal
looking forward to seeing you all there tomorrow night :D

Very surprised to hear that Chris, I can remember when you used to be first on the hill rigging your hangglider and asking about the Birdman event..
