Miller flies 24 mile on cancelled club comp day

Post by John Watson »

After some deliberation on why the club comp was cancelled on such an epic day in Northumberland, John Miller declared an open distance XC competition in Ronnies absence.
Shortly after this he flew his Hang glider 24 miles from Moneylaws landing at Denwick near Alnwick. Watched in awe by most of the clubs HG pilots, John took off in light conditions that nearly had him down in the bottom field. After an excellent display of skilful flying and dogged determination John searched and found a core, which he stuck with to 5.000ft.
Closely followed by his retrieve driver for the day, (Mr Watson) he was picked up within a minute of derriging his glider and whisked back to take off at Moneylaws to rounds of rapturous applause from his comrades.
Well-done Mad Dog, A true Northunbrian Legend.
Bob Sutherland, Woody, and Stu Stephens also had some good flying with Woody making a bold effort to go XC, but ended up getting drilled just behind the hill.
As for the paragliding! Well there’s always next week. |-(

That should keep his face smilling for the next few months at least.

Bigger balls than most dogs.

Well done.

Well done John. Flew your socks off to get away when most of us there would've been in the bottom field.
Excellent flying. (clap)

Fantastic John!

At least someone got to fly yesterday.....
It is sad to measure your life in terms of hours flown...... but even sadder not to.........
