What's the best currency to use in OD Turkish Lira, Sterling, or both? Plus what do the guys that do the transport up the hill take?

Just came back from Olu Deniz a few weeks ago. Transport up the hill was 15 Lira and entry to the park was 10 Lira.
Most of the cafes and bars take both sterling and Lira. All i had was lira and the prices didnt seem too bad.
I would recommend taking a 10 pound note for the 'visa'. You can't pay for it in Lira which really got on my wick. Funny old thing you can exchange lira for sterling at the goverment run exchange booth right next door to the visa desk but the exchange rate is a joke.
I didn't do SIV just some long smooth flights over the bay. If you need any help such as patches or lines the guys at Ikarus were very helpful.
Have fun.

Take sterling John..... all the local shops do exchange, and almost certainly at a better rate than you will get here.
When I went in May I didnt take any Lira with me at all.
You will need a ten quid note for the Visa though....
PS... exchange rate is about 2.6 Lira to the pound.

It is sad to measure your life in terms of hours flown...... but even sadder not to.........
