November meeting and auction

Post by John Wallis »

Good evening NHPC members.

This is just an early reminder about the November meeting and the annual club auction. This year in particular is important as we have spent a lot of our funds and we need to try and restore a more healthy bank balance.

My good friend and fellow auctioneer John Watson hope to raise a substantial amount for our club funds (Maybe a record this year) But we can only do this with support from all of our members and sponsors.

We would like you "All" to try and attend the auction and bring with you something to sell preferably a donation. It can be anything from a jar of jam, and 4 pack of beer, a home made cake, a set of old skis, ( I have several) Wine, computers, cameras, walking gear, gift vouchers and flight experience days (Our sponsors are you watching contact me on jw.wallis@gmail.com) or a promise package like Dave and Steve's microlight flights, an MOT test from Western Way Garage, A will from Alastair Wolf a web site from Steve Marshall etc etc. We have a great relationship with all of our sponsors and no matter how small the offering towards the auction it will be gratefully accepted.

If you have an item of value and you would like to auction it we are changing the rules this year and instead of asking for a percentage of the sale we will be asking nothing more than a donation towards clubs funds. We hope the donation will be in the spirit on the event.

I know Mike Fenny is starting a new venture with customised on line calenders which I personally think is a great idea. Maybe Mike can donate a calender. I personally have some ideas towards a garage calender for xmas if I can get the guys to strip their shirts off.

But more than anything please put this in your diary for the first Wednesday in November and let's make it work. I'll be in contact with you all before the event in the shape of a PM.

It's now 12.00 and I'm pissed but I have to go to Cross Fell tomorrow with the hang glider in the hope of catching the Mad Dog....I need 16K before the end of the month 8)

Mike is indeed going to produce a special calender with photos from the club photo section on our website. I would like to ask permission from all members in case their photos are picked for the calender. If anyone objects please send me a PM and I'll make sure those photos aren't used then followed up by a visit from John Watson

Alastair is doing a double will again which is always a good thing to get sorted. He did ours and it was quite a nice personal thing for a friend to sort out your affairs. Mind you he does like the odd glass of red so make sure you're stocked.

I hope everyone is going through there cupboards ready for a week on Wednesday we need all the support we can get.

Thanks

John

a web site from Steve Marshall
Erm, steady on there John, lets not get carried away now. Don't recall promising any such thing!

EDITED
rules this year and instead of asking for a percentage of the sale we will be asking nothing more than a donation towards clubs funds.
I thought the items where donated to the club and the full value went to the club?

Steve the money rasied from the items that are donated by members all goes to the club funds. But if people want to bring along things like a harness, glider, vario or whatever you can't expect them to donate those. So if we auction them and manage to sell them we ask for a donation towards the club funds. (sun)

I know you didn't promise a website it was just a suggestion from me :* If you do I will give you some personal tuition that will help you mince Gary on the hang glider |-( as I've heard the Mad Dog is taking on Gary as his protege (rulz)
