Club trip to Annecy
How about a club trip to Annecy in June rolling on from the LCC, lets say from around the 8th to the 15th? It could be for HG and PG(we might even organise our own fun comp while we're away!).
Those interested put your name forward and we'll meet up soon to firm up the details.

Hi Andrew....Not to put a spanner in the works but !!!!! Its seems there maybe a few of us going down to Laragne in July (not sure of dates ) Woody mentioned that He ,Bob and Tony Anderson were also interested.
Paul & I flew there last year and I would say it is As good if not better than Annecy (Maybe more reliable I should say). Great campsite which also acts as HG landing field. Great for offering constructive landing Critique whilst drinking Beers by your tent

Well dates would more than likely be the end of July, First week of August. I know that Jan & Chris are there at that time staying with Steve Giles's group in his folks house.
Alternative accomodation. Well there is the camp site/Landing field at Laragne which is just the job. Although I am not sure how full it gets around that time of year, plus it will mean taking camping equip. abit tricky with a 20kg luggage allowance on a plane !. Last year we just arrived at Laragne & using the back of Skywings Paul and I contacted a couple called David & Racheal (organizers of Chabre Open) to see if they could give us any info. Dave & Racheal now live in the area. They have accomodation and offer a thouroughly excellent flying & retreval service. Although they are not officially 'Guides' they give an in depth weather analysis on flying days, take you to the best sites for the day and will pick you up from where-ever you may land. I have dropped them a e-mail to ask tentatively what availability they have at that time of year for accom and /or flying retreval.
At the moment in our usual typical style we cannot decided to Van it or fly it or a specific date. So that the state of play at the moment. Clear as mud.

Kay so are you saying the dates are Sat July 26th to Sat Aug 2nd. The last time we stayed in Larangne (Spelling) the campsite was devided between the landing field (Most Excellent) and the farmer's paddock/orchard which was also great and probably one and the same thing as they are next to each other. It's a great place for a holiday with lakes and gorges to swim in.Well dates would more than likely be the end of July, First week of August
If the dates are confirmed we just might get a classic NHPC holiday out of this.

The dates of the trip that Captain Chris Cool and lovely Jan are going on are 29th July - 12th August. Airfares Manchester to Bordeaux are currently running at £30 each way if you can go mid week.
I'm busy trying to sweet talk the missus into a week in Laragne and a week or so on the coast. But I think she's found out that a week in the mountains will equal a week driving retrieve and a week or so at the coast means surfing. There is a Pro tour event there in August.
I think my chances are limited,,,,,,,,very limited. But you never know!

Hi Folks..Here is the reply I receved from Dave and Racheal re aJuly/Aug visit.
Sorry to have maybe derailed your original date suggestion Andrew...Maybe your dates + Laragne venue !.. Paul and I may have problems making it around that time. However I am sure it with more than likely be less busy than July August and I am sure Verygood flying.
Sounds like they are tied up over that period. It would be great to see you guys again we really enjoyed flying with you last year, problem is the date - We are pretty well booked up for the summer and specifically from mid July to early August we have friends who have booked the Grange and so will also be occupied with them (non flyers).
From the point of view of weather that time of year will be pretty strong and while you guys wouldn't have any problem with it - you'd probably love it, for a mixed group it might not be ideal.!
As regards availability of the Gite September is good we are free from 30th August right through at the moment but that usually changes in the late spring/early summer when pilots start to think of their flying hols again! If it's just you guys passing through in July then it'd be great to see you and we'll fly some days but we can't guarantee to be flying every day and won't be running a daily navette. To be honest if it's booming Rach will probably be very keen to go off XC - if she hasn't got a hangover, otherwise we probably wouldn't fly.
Have a look at our website for holiday prices for groups; under flying holidays, costs are around 525 to 550 Euros per person with airport transfers (assuming the group all arrive at the same airport around the same time). This includes B&B, packed lunch, all transport and usual weather and site stuff. We can also download tracks etc in the evenings to compare flights. If you need more info or anything specific just ask. Transport includes going to sites like Mens or St Vincent if weather dictates.
Looking forward to meeting your Dad again - won't be long now.
Cheers
