officialy out of the red ribbon

Post by gary stenhouse »

well i have officaialy done my 10 hours so i can put away the red ribbon. the benefits of flying both is realy coming to light with all these strong winds though it still gets hairy up there with 40km winds and 5ms lift, though once you get used to all the pushing and shoving it starts to get more relaxing than thought. nearly 2.5 in the air and my neck feels fine but i can barely move my elbows and shoulders. this might be that on the rio the roll is light but pitch is heavy after a long time when your using speed.

the next time out hopefully there will be a few more hg out to give me some competition on the ridge and to give me something to go for, as when you are flying by yourself you do not get the same urge to push the limits. with all this extra time in the air i hope to be ready for the next chalenge

Well done for losing te red ribbon Gary but be careful, I was teachng on Sunday and had to stop tethered training (HG) because of the cu-nimbs building in the afternoon !!! we were getting gust from 10-35mph.

Its very important to check out the lapse rate, humidity, and expected cloud base height on a good flying day...two reasons for this, SAFETY first, secondly - this will help you to acheive big XC's
Maximise your time & dosh do both Hanggliding & Paragliding :)

There would have been if you'd phoned me (and I don't mean after you got there just to tell me it's epic when it's too late)...... :x

Congrats on losing your cherry in double quick time. I expect you had the ceremonial burning of said appendage on top of the hill?
