feb the 1 st next meeting airspace and site selection
given the spring is coming upon us its a good time to have a look at the airspace around us as well as the best sites to be on to get the most out of your flying.
we all know as the season opens up northumberland shuts down for lambing, so we end up never getting to fly the best time of year on are local sites.
the question is does this need looking at? as after all we dont need disignated fiels to land in for a pg or need a top driving site so could access be negotiated for slope landing and xc?
i think the above could be a topic well worth toching on at the meeting as well
cheers gary

Few pointers..
A few pointers Gary for the meeting.
Best site Xfell, (no lambing)
Flying sites in the lambing season is not the problem, its access.. driving or walking through fields with new born lambs is a big no no ! and the farmers will not allow it.
Slope landings, you cannot gaurantee all club members will always make a slope landing which could end up in the landing field.
XC, again you cannot gaurantee you will get away from the hill.. and if you do avoid landing in fields with lambs or cattle.
End of March to May flying - generally flying this time of year is very turbulant so quite a lot of club pilots tend to fly the coast or fly late afternoon so I don't think there will be many members affected.

the thing is we need a nnw a north or ne that airspace can be avoided if we ever stand a chance of getting a good xc, in the cheviots. the thing is a lot of the areas where we fly have open access to walkers and dogs yet why is it such a problem that there may be a very small chance that a few xc pilots find a hill and take off. this needs addressing and we need to either try or just go to hills that face the right direction on the right day and go for it.
at the end of the day if you were flying from broughton and ended up on moneylaws would you land out or keep flying untill you got a climb?
the answere is yes and you have every right to do so, so come to the meeting and have your say and see what you can do for the club.
cheers gary

Good idea lets get ronnie back to thbe meetings
lambing times Is a good topic for debate but I think it will take a miracle to change things I agree with ronnie sheep with new lambs have to be kept well clear of but some farmers bring there sheep in for lambing so there is propablly is some room for improvement but it will be a monster task for a great negotiator and who's going to do it
I HATE COMPUTERS
