tonight's meeting

Post by bill-scott »

sorry but i wont be able to attend tonights meet as i have to go to work
I had a few points on safety especially notams i wanted to discuss
maybe this could be done in my absence
firstly the obvious or is it how do you submit a notam :?:
are notams necessary all times on all sites eg the coast:?:
if no then where and when :?:
how can you give acurate information on location time and duration the night before :?:
does as seems to suggest submitting a notam means the raf are likely to come and take a look :?:
thats propablly enough to be going on with, personally I think that there are certain hot spots that should always be notaned and others that are not so important but the present system I dont find very user friendly,
and not very relevant to our type of aviation.
also if everyone notamed every days flying all the time the system would be overwhelmed and could play right into the hands of the we must all have transponders lobby.
 A suggestion for the powers that be all the established free flying sites are known even though they are being removed from air charts to reduce clutter. and a system already exists that sends you a text message when a site is likely to be working.
Can you see where Im going
would it be to hard for some computer geeky types to come up with a system that automatically highlights a site that is likely to be in use .
therefore taking away the need to notam altogther except for special events comps etc

So there you have it this is by far the longest post I have ever made and my finger is starting to blister  so food for thought
hope there is a good turnout
I HATE COMPUTERS
