Paragliding accuracy comp in Serdivan, Turkey

Post by ron freeman »

Dear flying colleagues,

I have been asked by the Festival Coordinator (Mohammed Sirali) to share the notice below with you. Please consider whether this might be an attractive, rewarding, and useful experience for you and your 'almost CP--beginning to thermal---wanting to experience a no-stress accuracy comp' students! :-) NOTE--Instructors with two or more students are free! :

9th Annual Paragliding and Accuracy Festival, Serdivan, Turkey (5-9 September)

The Bogazici Paragliding Club of Istanbul will once again host its annual International Paragliding and Accuracy Festival in Serdivan, Sakarya from 5 to 9 September 2014. The cost remains the same as last year at Euros 120 per pilot. A non-flying guest or family member in the same room as the pilot is only Euro 60. The fee includes transport from central Istanbul to the Festival on 5 September, room, food, transport and retrieves from the accuracy target landing field to the hill, an elegant awards dinner, concerts, games, family entertainment and more!
.
For the accuracy contest, 1st prize will be a new wing from our major sponsor NOVA! Other prizes awarded previously were Braueniger Discount Certificates for alti-varios, harnesses, Charly helmets, boots, and more. The more pilots we get, the more prizes we can award!
.
ALSO---If you want a REAL challenge--Last year, our Kyrgyz friends 'proved' an out-and-back XC route--something we may do for fun and for practicing thermals this year.
.
The fun doesn't stop with the flying, though. The Mayor of Serdivan, with the regional governor's support, will most likely put on another four nights of SERIOUS hilltop party that are simply amazing! In previous years, Japanese lantern balloons, a concert, dancing, and more were enjoyed and all 6 days were included in the price! You only need to bring souvenir and "other-than-soft-drink-beverage" money!
.
What level/How many hours do I need to enter? This festival is geared toward those who would like to take their first step into the world of accuracy competitions in a fun, friendly, no-stress international atmosphere OR those who are beginning thermalling and want to improve their skills and techniques in reliable, safe conditions (I was up for over 5 hours last year on one flight and had numerous height gains--my best to 1477m!). It is a fully-supported, family-friendly, and SAFE competition with some really terrific people and masses of enjoyment!
.
Once, again, Bogazici Paragliding wants to attract even more clubs and flying friends from Europe and beyond, and wants to encourage those nearing their IPPI ParaPro 3 ratings (UK Club Pilot-equivalent) to attend and complete their course in safe, reliable, and fun conditions with their instructor.
.
SO...Muhammed Sirali, CFI and Festival Coordinator, has decided that ANY NON-COMPETING CFI/ INSTRUCTOR, ACCOMPANYING AND TRAINING AT LEAST TWO PAYING STUDENTS, ATTENDS FOR FREE! (The instructor can, of course, fly during the festival, but would not be eligible for the Accuracy Competition prizes.)
.
How Do You Sign Up??
.
If the thought of a fun, safe international accuracy competition and reliable thermalling practice with low stress, friendly people, and terrific, sunny weather appeals to you, OR if you have any questions on the details, then send an e-mail to: (English/Russian/Polish/German) Bob Hand (BobIstanbul on pgforum.com OR at "rottenredus (at) yahoo.com") or for Turkish/Farsi/Turkic Languages to Mohammed Sirali at "info (at) bogaziciparagliding.com".

(NOTE: When scheduling flights, please arrive no later than mid-morning of 5 September and plan on departing after about 15.00 on 10 September for our free transport schedules to work).
